Chapter 266 Mystery Man
He was crouching, looking at the distance, arms over his knees, calmly contemplating.
"What do we do next? What is going to come?" He was lost in thought, thinking about all the possibilities that were to come.
Myriad Arrows and Kierch both went to sleep at Jake\'s behest. They slept within game and didn\'t log out though, even though that meant their sleep quality wouldn\'t be as good.
Jake wanted them to be options in case someone ambushed them.
"And this king. Who is this king? I never remembered this story line. How did things change so much?" Jake said, shaking his head.
"I just hope that everything goes according to plan." He told himself.
"What are you thinking about ?" A voice startled him.
Jake turned back, looking at the man who covered the sun, with a shadowed face that still didn\'t tell him who this man was.
"You might want to move away from the sun. I can\'t see who you are properly." Jake said.
"Ah. Yes." The man chuckled as he moved away.
Jake raised his eyebrows with surprise as he saw who it was.
"How did I not recognize him before? Damn, I must be going senile." he chuckled.
"Have a seat. Why didn\'t you rest?" Jake asked.
"I could ask you the same." The mystery man said, sitting to Jake\'s right, legs stretched apart and arms supporting his frame.
"Well, I would think that the person who vouched for their guild to take some rest would rest along with them. I thought that you were the one who wanted some rest as well." Jake asked.
"I just relayed what my men wanted. It doesn\'t mean I want to do the same." The mystery man chuckled.
"Well then, what were you thinking about? Why aren\'t you resting? You were a pretty big influence in the fight, I hear? I could only see your fight at the very end, once you came over to our side." The mystery man asked.
"I would rather just stay awake. Sleeping will make me groggy. This isn\'t my first time spending more than a few days in the game." Jake said.
"Well, you better not weigh us down. You are clearly dragging your whole guild along with you when you start fighting." The mystery man smiled.
"That is an exaggeration. I will be relying on someone else when it comes to the single fight." Jake said, shaking his head.
"Yes, Myriad Arrows, I suppose? The archer?" The mystery man asked.
"It looks like you did some research?" Jake raised his eyebrows.
"When my uncle just went ahead and forged the alliance, none of us were prepared. We had to be skeptical. We had to do our research. And boy do I have to fire our scouts." The mystery man chuckled.
"And yet, every single moment, you seem to be against what we do."
"I only said that I was impressed. That doesn\'t mean that I am going to sacrifice the good of my guild for yours. I will make sure my guild gets what it deserves." The mystery man scoffed.
"Whatever. When the time comes, I will also take what I deserve. If that boss died then, I would have actually monopolized every single item that dropped. None of you even helped me. Perhaps, the tank that gave his life to take one of the hits would take one of the items."Jake said.
"I only asked for a share because you revived our support in the fight against the wolf king. You seem to forget that you were being buffed by our mages and healers." The mystery man said.
"I didn\'t need them. And I did give you your share. I just deserved the lion\'s share is what I am saying." Jake scoffed.
"Well next time, if you don\'t monopolize the boss-"
"The boss came toward me this time. Not my fault. Maybe he just recognized who the stronger guild master was." Jake chuckled.
"Now you are just begging for a fight." The mystery man shook his head, smiling.
"Well, what brings the aloof Lone Wolf to my side of the camp? You walked a long mile to get here, didn\'t you?" Jake asked.
"The fight on the wall. How confident are you that you can finish it in one fight?" Lone Wolf asked.
"What for? Do you want a crack at it?" Jake asked.
"No. I need to make sure that you got it covered. I have seen your trio. Although I am confident that I am qualified to be on the golden rankings, I have no idea how you three aren\'t on it yet." Lone Wolf shook his head.
"That was because I made sure our abilities didn\'t go out just yet. I can\'t afford to have people poaching my men, do I?" Jake chuckled.
"And, the golden rankings are not worth it yet. Perhaps, if they have some cash reward or something, I will try to get on it." Jake said.
"What about the publicity that your guild will receive?" Lone Wolf asked.
"What do I care about publicity? Who doesn\'t know about Bright Horizon? And after this expedition that I am sure we will get through, fame will only rush through." Jake said.
"Well, I don\'t care about all of that. Just tell me how confident are you that you can finish it in a single fight." Lone Wolf asked.
"Ninety percent." Jake said.
"Ninety?" Lone Wolf paused for a second.
"That\'s good enough. I thought it was as low as thirty. But you rank your man pretty high up, don\'t you?" Lone Wolf chuckled.
·ƈθm "I have my confidence in him." Jake nodded.
"Well, I also hope he wins." Lone Wolf cryptically said as he got up, leaving.
