Chapter 1075: Hard for Others Not to Notice Him
Yun Liuli’s parents had informed her teacher at school, and Yun Liuli was supposed to leave after the physical education class.
Her bag hung on the anti-theft mesh in the equipment storage room’s window. Yun Liuli took off her spectacles and put them into her spectacle case. Yun Liuli didn’t have myopia, and the reason for her wearing such a big pair of black-rimmed glasses was to cover up her face. However, it wasn’t a good idea to wear glasses when it was raining.
She shielded her bag in front of her body and ran over to the school gate from the sports field.
Gu Qingcheng, with his tall stature, was standing beside a black car. Without any warning, he barged into Yun Liuli’s eyes.
Gu Qingcheng had a height of 1.86 meters and was standing next to an expensive car. It was hard for others not to notice him.
He was wearing a white shirt, which was tucked into his stylish trousers that were secured with a belt. His clothing made him appear taller and made his legs look longer. His collar was neatly ironed, with the top button undone, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing his muscular and toned arms.
His long and slender fingers with distinct joints were shrouded by a wisp of white smoke from his cigarette. He took a puff and looked toward Yun Liuli with his deep eyes.
Despite the smoke, Yun Liuli could still see the man’s handsome and masculine facial features.
After the smoke dissipated, Yun Liuli saw his indifferent expression under his high and arching brows. His gaze was like that of an intelligent person who had been tempered by the passing of time. Even his looks seemed to be carved with maturity and composure, filled with a dignified disposition that made one feel scared to get too close.
Although Gu Qingcheng’s vision was blurred by the rain and Yun Liuli didn’t bear a resemblance to her parents, it wasn’t hard for him to guess the identity of the student who had run out with her bag at this hour.
Gu Qingcheng threw a glance at Yun Liuli, feeling that she was absurdly fair.
Yun Liuli’s hair and school uniform were completely wet, and her fringe clung to her small face. Water droplets dripped down from her exquisite chin, and her big uniform was now closely stuck to her skinny figure. From afar, she looked so small and thin, like a newborn kitten—adorable but pitiful…
Yun Liuli saw Gu Qingcheng biting onto a cigarette in the rain. He opened the door to the driver’s seat and took out his coat. She lowered her gaze, unsure if this man was Gu Qingcheng.
When she looked up again, the man who was wearing a cold and indifferent expression was walking toward her. She stood in place, feet touching. It was only when the big black umbrella covered her that she looked up at the man who had a strong disposition.
The environment had been dim to begin with because of the rain. Now that the light was covered by the big black umbrella, it was increasingly hard for Yun Liuli to see Gu Qingcheng’s expression clearly despite standing so close to him…
What she saw was the man’s shoulder that was in the rain in order to cover her from the rain. His white shirt stuck closely to his skin due to the rain, bringing out the muscular lines of his shoulder.
The man passed her the coat with the hand that was holding onto the cigarette, saying, “Let’s go.”
Yun Liuli was protected in that small space under the umbrella, and the sound of the heavy rain knocking against the umbrella rang out above her head. The rain slid off the sides of the umbrella like pearl curtains. Yun Liuli hugged her school bag tightly, lowering her head and not taking the coat. She didn’t say a word.
Gu Qingcheng frowned slightly. He had heard about Yun Liuli’s condition from her father, Yun Shoushan. He didn’t mind this.
“Hold onto the umbrella!”
The man’s voice was extremely penetrative, having a strong prowess that made it hard for one to go against him. Yun Liuli almost subconsciously raised her hand and held onto the umbrella.
In the next instant, a weight sank down on her shoulders as Gu Qingcheng draped his coat over her.
Before Yun Liuli could react, Gu Qingcheng had held onto her shoulder, taking the umbrella from her and shielding her from the rain while he brought her toward the car.
When Yun Liuli sat in the car, she was still in a daze.
What Yun Liuli hated most was to have contact with other people, especially when it was physical contact.
However, she only realized what had happened after Gu Qingcheng wrapped his arm around her shoulder and shielded her on the way to the car, once she took the tissue box that he had passed her…
Yun Liuli looked up and saw Gu Qingcheng’s side view. He was focused on his driving. She frowned and lowered her long and densely-packed lashes.
The heat in the car was on, so it wasn’t very cold. However, the feeling of wet clothes sticking to her skin was unbearable.
Yun Liuli put her bag and Gu Qingcheng’s coat to the side. She drew out tissues to wipe her fringe and then undid her ponytail, using her fingers to loosen up her wet hair.
Gu Qingcheng had no idea how to get along with a child. Yun Shoushan said that unless necessary… Yun Liuli didn’t like to talk much. Even when she was at home, she would be so quiet it was as if she didn’t exist. She would definitely not disturb Gu Qingcheng! He said that… unless Yun Liuli spoke up to make a request and said that there were things she needed, Gu Qingcheng could just leave her be and let her stay at his place quietly for two days.
Gu Qingcheng brought Yun Liuli back to his place, then told her to head to the guest room to wash up and change her clothes. They’d have dinner at 7:30 pm. Yun Liuli nodded, not saying anything. She hugged her bag and entered the guest room.
Yun Liuli entered the guest room. After washing up, she opened up her bag. The bag wasn’t filled with books but a soft owl doll and a diary.
Yun Liuli was never one to take notes, and she’d always finish her assignments in school. She didn’t have the habit of taking her assignments back home.
She switched on the desk lamp and sat down to write in her diary.
This was a request from Yun Liuli’s doctor. It was because Yun Liuli wouldn’t share what was on her mind, so she needed a place she could vent.
The contents of the diary were very simple. The words written in elegant handwriting didn’t have any feeling to them at all. They were very simple and straightforward, as if she was completing a mission.
[I came to stay at the place of Dad’s friend, Gu Qingcheng. I didn’t attend extended classes. Dinner is at 7:30 pm. Gu Qingcheng’s place is very big. Even the bathroom is bigger than my room.]
After closing her diary, Yun Liuli took out her soft owl doll and hugged it. Her gaze was unfocused as she stared at the heavy rain outside the window, her ears filed with the sounds of the falling rain.
Yun Liuli’s parents would be reading her diary, so writing it felt like a mission to her. She knew that her parents would only be able to get peace of mind after she completed this mission. Other than that… Yun Liuli didn’t know what else she could do to reduce the intense grief in her parents’ eyes when they looked at her.
Yun Liuli’s gaze would always look so empty and dispirited. It didn’t do justice to her beautiful eyes.
At 7:30 pm, Yun Liuli, who had sat there in a daze, put down her soft doll and headed out of the room. After finishing her dinner, she went back to hug her soft doll. She just sat there, and it was hard to tell what she was thinking about.
Yun Shoushan told Gu Qingcheng that Yun Liuli could be so quiet that it felt like she didn’t exist. At the beginning, Gu Qingcheng didn’t believe it. However, when he thought of Yun Liuli again, it was already lunch time the next day. It was only then that he realized that what Yun Shoushan said was true.
He knocked on Yun Liuli’s door, pushing it open. He saw the girl’s long hair draping down to her waist. She just sat there quietly, hugging her soft doll.
The bed was so clean and tidy that there were no traces of it having been used. Gu Qingcheng had no idea if Yun Liuli hadn’t slept at all or if she had tidied up the place after she got up.
